Beloved burger joint to open first standalone location in Vancouver with two patios

Burger lovers, take note. East Van’s beloved Monarch Burger is opening its first standalone burger joint in the heart of Mount Pleasant this month and you’ll definitely want to check it out for yourself.

Known for its original “Dirty Burger” (cheeseburger) inspired by those coming off the grill at the local rink after hockey practice, Monarch Burger originated as an offering at Campagnolo Upstairs, which later became The American.

Since then, Monarch has popped up at events across East Vancouver, delighting foodies with their simple yet perfected burgers.

Now, Vancouver burger fanatics have a standalone joint they can head to the next time they’re craving one of Chef Robert Belcham’s mouthwatering creations.

“The exile is over,” Belcham jokes. “It’s great to be back where we belong.”

Upon opening, there will be seven menu items at Monarch to choose from:

  • The Burger
  • The Original Dirty Burger (cheeseburger)
  • The Double Dirty (double cheeseburger)
  • Veggie Mushroom Burger
  • Smokey Beef Fat Fries
  • Poutine
  • Spicy Loaded Poutine (with pulled pork and Wreck Peach Hot Sauce from Rosie’s BBQ.)

Note that all Monarch burgers are made with locally sourced 66 Acres beef, and come with lettuce, tomatoes, house-made pickles, and a top-secret ‘special sauce.’

Two patios

The new space will open in partnership with the Narrow Group, and will feature indoor seating (13 high tops), a year-round 10-seat patio, and a curb-side summertime patio with 20 more seats!

So there you have it, Vancouver! Get ready to taste some of the most iconic burgers in the city and enjoy patio season in one go.
