This Alberta hot springs has the warmest water in the Rockies & it just reopened for the season

Ready or not, here it comes! Though the calendar still reads ‘summer,’ there’s a nip in the air and it won’t be long until the province has frozen over. Luckily, even when the temperature takes a nose dive, there’s still a ton to experience in Wild Rose Country… one of the coziest being the Miette Hot Springs in Alberta.

Located in Jasper National Park, this particular destination is said to have the ‘hottest water in the Canadian Rockies,’ and is a fool-proof way to relax, recharge and kick off the fall season.

Here, you’ll be able to enjoy a stunning view of the mountains and trees, get some fresh air and of course – go for a swim in one of their cold plunge areas or famous hot pools.

According to Travel Alberta, the natural hot springs water actually flows from the mountain at 54°C before being cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C (104°F), so come prepared and embrace any breeze you might get.

Interested? Due to a mudslide earlier this summer, the springs have been closed since June, but have since reopened to the public and will be accessible until October 9th.

For this reason, we’d recommend visiting as soon as you’re able and willing to take a bit of a drive.

Happy travelling and enjoy – but don’t forget snacks!

Small bites and bottled non-alcoholic beverages are available through vending machines, but there is no cafe or restaurant on site so pack smart, have fun and don’t forget to take photos!
