Another season of Top Chef Canada is here, friends and with more time than ever to prepare for the competition (no thanks to COVID) contestants are likely to be more impressive than ever. This year, the iconic reality show will see 11 fierce foodies go head to head for an incredible prize of $100,000, a Lexus RX Hybrid Electric SUV, and of course, the coveted culinary title of Top Chef Canada.

From coast to coast, lifelong lovers of the culinary art form will take their place in the game of twists, turns, and delicious eats, competing week to week in cut-throat challenges. Each episode will be judged by a panel that includes some of the countries most notable in the industry and though we don’t technically have a say, we already see a few of them going incredibly far.

Call us biased, but there are two chefs in particular that we think could rock the top spot and they just happen to be from right here in Calgary.

Galasa Aden and Alex Edmonson from YYC will make up two of the 11 contestants to appear on season 9 of the popular show and after looking into what they have to offer, we’ve got high hopes.

Here’s what you need to know about Calgary’s Top Chef Contestants.

Galasa Aden

“Adapt or die!” 27-year-old Galasa, is all about cooking from the heart. Like a lot of the chefs that you naturally want to succeed, his love of cooking is rooted in sharing the kitchen with his parents at a young age. Also, as the Executive Chef of the Cliffhanger Restaurant at the Grey Wolf Golf Course in BC, his ability to please much larger groups of people with a wide range of needs and preferences could come in totally handy in this competition.

Alex Edmonson

At 28, Edmonson, a personal chef, has established a pretty fair social media following on Instagram for his daily food posts. However, he’s out to prove that he’s more than just an influencer. It’s also worth noting that he initially fell in love with fine dining after watching Disney’s Ratatouille… and we respect that.

So there you have it Calgary. Your YYC contestants for Top Chef Canada Season 9. Catch the premiere on Monday, April 19 at 10 pm ET/PT on the Food Network, or on the Global TV app.

Good Luck, guys! We believe in you.
