This island with clear waters has one of the prettiest small towns in BC

When it comes to exploring Canada’s many stunning islands, Mayne Island in British Columbia is definitely worth the trip.

Recognized as one of the prettiest small towns in the province, the island is known for its unforgettable wildlife experiences, which include frequent Orca sightings!

What to expect

While the area is on the small side at a total of 21 square kilometres, Mayne Island offers plenty of nature lovers to explore, as well as a vibrant local arts scene.

Visitors can embark on a scenic ferry ride from Vancouver or Victoria, taking in views of surrounding hills, forests, and untamed shorelines.

A bit of history

A former stopping point during the 1850s Fraser Gold Rush, Mayne Island now hosts a whole slew of family-friendly activities and events, including a Saturday Farmer’s Market at the Agricultural Hall Grounds, and the annual Fall Fair, which has been a beloved tradition since 1928.

Natural beauty

If you’re looking for a beautiful sport to spend the day or catch the sunset, consider checking out St. John Point Regional Park, which offers 26 hectares of waterfront forest and rocky beaches and bluffs to explore.

According to the park’s website, it’s a great spot to bird watch or take a stroll via “moderate” hiking trails” along rocky bluffs.

So there you have it, Vancouver! If you’re looking for your next island destination to visit, consider exploring Mayne Island this late summer and fall!
