Mansion or mothership? This futuristic Calgary palace looks straight out of Star Trek

From one end of the real estate spectrum to the other, we’ve kind of seen it all. Big, small, luxe, unusual – Calgary doesn’t get enough credit for its architectural diversity, but this listing? This one really sets itself apart from all others. From futuristic decor to its glass auto showcase, 1104 Drury Avenue is truly one of a kind, but let’s get into why.

Located in the community of Bridgeland, the 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom palace boasts an impressive 7,250 sqft of livable space.

Everything is decorated cohesively to showcase its space station-like interior. With brighter-than-our-future LED lighting (valued at $1 million) and an unsettling monochrome paint job, a shot-for-shot remake of any cosmo classic could easily be made with nothing but a grainy iPhone filter and some patience.

Now, is this a good thing? Well, we honestly can’t imagine that actually living here would be very zen, because it looks like a nightclub, but to each their own. It’s definitely not for us, but with a price tag of $4,000,000, we’re not sure we can even afford to have an opinion about this place anyway. Feel free to disagree!

That’s not to say it doesn’t have features that anyone would be so lucky to have, though!

Not only does 1104 Drury Avenue have huge rooms, a gourmet kitchen with smart knock technology and a 5 car garage (complete with that glass auto showcase we mentioned); it also has an incredible view, custom-built fireplace, gym and sound-resistant walls. Just in case you ever feel the sudden urge to really blast Richard Strauss’s ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’, after all, this home HAS to have been modelled after 2001: A Space Odyssey, right?
