This BC park has six interconnected lakes & limestone sinkholes

Situated on Quadra Island near Campbell River and Heriot Bay is Main Lake Park, a stunning park with six interconnected lakes that form the largest freshwater waterway in the Gulf and Discovery Islands. As such, the park is best enjoyed by canoe or kayak, though you can also access it by ferry or car as well.

Visitors to the park can spot a variety of biodiverse wildlife, including wolves, cougars, owls, bald eagles, hawks, osprey, peregrine falcons and wintering swans. All in all, there are more than 72 different bird species and 234 plant species to observe!

In terms of camping, visitors should note that there are no official facilities provided. However, backcountry marine camping is available at seven designated sites throughout the park, which are accessible by boat.

The Main Lake Chain of interconnected lakes extends to Main Lake, Village Bay Lake, and Mine Lake, which are navigable by canoes and dinghies only.

Visitors can hop on a ferry from Campbell River to Quathiaski Cove to get to Quadra Island, and Main Lake Park can be accessed by vehicle via Village Bay Road.
