Well, it’s official, people! Toronto is a great place to live. We didn’t need a list to tell us that, but Maclean’s has gone ahead and given us one anyway. They’ve just released new rankings listing the best communities in Canada in 2021. No surprise, Toronto nabbed a top spot.
So where exactly did we land? We’re glad you asked. This awesome city cleaned it up in 11th place overall. Yeah, sure, it’s not top ten. But given there were over 400 laces named, we’re still considering it a pretty big win.
Other top contenders include Halifax, Nova Scotia in first; followed by Fredericton, New Brunswick; St. Thomas, Ontario; Belleville, Ontario; and Edmonton, Alberta.
Here’s the full top 15:

So how did Maclean’s come to these conclusions? Using a pretty nifty methodology, that’s how! They took everything into consideration, factoring things like affordability, population growth, taxes, crime, weather, and even internet access to decided which spots are the best communities!
Plus, they even have a sliding scale feature, where you can find customized rankings based on which factors matter to you most. If you’re looking for a new city to move to, this is a great tool.
So there you have it! If you’d like to check out the rankings in full, just head on over to Macleans.ca.
