Lynwood’s first annual Hawaiian festival is this weekend & will have a fundraiser for Maui

Seattle and its surrounding areas have been popping off with cultural festivals this summer. Between events like the CID Block Party and Caribbean Sea Fest, there is plenty to see, do, and learn. However, that’s not all that’s happening this August because the first annual, Lynwood Luau is also taking place this weekend.

Lynwood Luau is a free, festival and celebration of Hawaiian culture. It takes place on Saturday, August 19th from 3 PM to 8 PM at The District, in the District Plaza, which is just outside the Lynnwood Event Center. That’s a whole lot of districts!

The festival gives you the chance to listen to live music, enjoy dance performances from talented artists, and experience a taste of authentic Hawaiian food. Food available for purchase comes from local vendors and businesses like Kona Kitchen, Poke Me, Lynwood Chef Michael & Team, and Kona Ice Shave Ice. Psst, according to a post on the festival’s Instagram, there will also be an outdoor Tiki Bar.

There are also several different learning opportunities including free lei-making classes, free hula dancing classes, and free drumming classes.

Due to the Maui fires, the Luau is supporting the Kākoʻo Maui Fund by working to match every donation made. This fund helps provide “resources that can be deployed quickly and efficiently to support recovery efforts on Maui.” So that means 100% of the funds collected via the donation link will go to Maui organizations to support relief efforts.

Now keep in mind, there are no tickets to Lynwood Luau, all you need to do is show up.

Lynwood Luau
