This Ontario park has freshwater springs & a bridge above a waterfall

Looking for a magical afternoon escape? Then, you have to check out the Belfountain Conservation Area nestled in the valley of the West Credit River.

Located in the Caledon area, this picturesque conservation area is only a short drive from Toronto and offers stunning vistas in the summer and fall.

As you wander along the escarpment trail, you’ll see freshwater springs flow peacefully down limestone cliffs.

There are several trails here that range from challenging to easy, depending on the activity level that suits you best.

That includes a scenic Riverside Trail with a boardwalk that extends along the river’s edge and lookout points.

All of the trails have something unique to offer, from panoramic views of lush greenery to scenic staircases, and observation areas to pause and notice the beauty.

There are also historical features within the park, including the heritage gardens, terrace, and Yellowstone Cave.

However, the main attraction is the charming “belle” fountain, which you can observe up close on the wooden suspension bridge.

As you walk across the bridge, you’ll practically feel the mist on your face as the waterfall cascades beneath you.

According to Ontario Hiking, there is also a staircase beside the waterfall that you can venture down for a different view.

Given how beautiful this spot is and its proximity to the city, it’s no surprise that it tends to get busy, especially on the weekends.

If you want to avoid crowds, we suggest visiting during the week or during off-peak times.
