Washington is full of hikes from wildflowers to caves, you can truly find it all. That being said, our state also has a whole lot of water. So with that in mind here are 9 of the best lake hikes you can do in Washington this summer.
Why is it called Lake 22? We’re not sure. What we do know is that this hike is a Washington favorite. It’s 5.4 miles roundtrip which is a pretty perfect distance if you’re looking for something on the easier side. Of course, you get to enjoy the scenic lake at the end of the hike as well.
Where: North Cascades
This trail is kind of a two-for-one because you can visit both Lake Serene and also Bridal Veil Falls. That being said, this hike is a little longer at 8.4 miles roundtrip so keep that in mind when thinking about how much you want to do in one day.
Where: Central Cascades
This trail is short but also steep making it on the more challenging side. That being said, it’s a great step up if you’re used to doing easier hikes. Of course, it also has a beautiful lake for you to visit on your 4.6-mile roundtrip journey.

Want something easy as pie that’s super rewarding? Check out Picture Lake, one of the most photographed spots in America. After an 0.5-mile hike, you’ll get a picture-perfect view of the lake and Mount Shuksan.

Snow Lake is the most visited lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and for a good reason. It’s beautiful and also a rewarding hike that’s long but not too hard. At 7.2 miles roundtrip, it’s slightly longer but well worth it for a day of adventuring.

Looking to take a trip to Mount Rainier? Eunice Lake should be on your list. You can view it from a historical fire lookout tower and also see some beautiful wildflowers along the way. Talk about sights to see!

Don’t stress yourself out for beautiful lake views. Sheep Lake is a 1.8-mile gentle climb on a good trail. You’ll dip in and out of the trees and also catch views of the deep valley of the Rainier fork of the American River. Not only that but also glimpses of Mt. Rainier and Naches Peak.

You also don’t have to drive far to find great lakes. Annette Lake is less than an hour from the city and an easy choice as it’s a 7.5-mile hike roundtrip on a well-maintained trail. Enjoy the views, wildflowers, and more on this trail.
Where: Snoqualmie Pass
This lake is just a stone’s throw from Snoqualmie Pass and a destination that everyone can enjoy. It’s short at 2.2 miles roundtrip making it a great stop if you’re driving through the area. Either way, we’re sure you’ll love the lake’s beautiful glassy surface.
