There’s a stunning scenic parkway in Ontario that winds through 11 islands

If you’re a fan of Amazing Race Canada then you may have caught one of Ontario’s most beautiful spots featured in the episode on August 27th. Long Sault Parkway connects 11 islands via one road, and it’s the perfect place to visit for an end-of-summer road trip (or to pretend you’re on Amazing Race).

Long Sault Parkway

Long Sault Parkway can be found east of Kingston in Ontario nestled along the St. Lawrence River between Cornwall and Brockville.

The parkway is open now and will remain open until around mid-November depending on weather. Parks of the St. Lawrence keeps updates on their website and Facebook page regarding when the parkway closes for the season.

According to Parks of the St. Lawrence, the Long Sault Parkway is “a series of 11 islands that were created from high points of land left after the flooding of the St. Lawrence River during the construction of the Seaway in the 1950s.”

The parkway hosts more than just beautiful views, it’s also home to three waterfront campgrounds. Some of the campgrounds have spots available up until October 26th if you feel like staying a while.

Amazing Race Canada

“It’s not how far they go…but what happens along the way!” Well, along the way Amazing Race Canada made a stop at the iconic Long Sault Parkway.

In the latest episode, which aired on August 27th, the contestants make a stop just before the parkway at The Lost Villages Museum before venturing the parkway to find a pitstop.

There are some incredible shots of the area but we recommend making a trip to experience it for yourself.

Be sure to visit Long Sault Parkway before the season comes to an end, Ontario!
