Who’s craving Italian? Locanda dell’Orso is the newest Italian dining concept opening in downtown Vancouver, bringing authentic, family-style food to the city’s historic Victorian Hotel – or should we say underneath it.

Its name translates to “Inn of the Bear,” referring to an Italian legend telling the story of an escaped bear seeking refuge at a local inn.

Drawing on decades of experience from around the world, Locanda dell’Orso will welcome guests with a hospitable atmosphere, where guests can indulge in authentic dishes from Italy’s Northern and Coastal regions.

Its mighty team consists of culinary experts Ianna Vazquez of Nuba Restaurant Group, Head Chef Marquella Uhrig of Kevin & Kevin Juice, Doireann Walsh of Donnellan’s Irish Pub, and Riccardo Farina of Mangia Cucina & Bar.

The new 1,500-square-foot restaurant is set to open in mid-May, offering guests an elevated Italian dining experience complimented by lesser-known Italian and BC wines and digestifs.

As for the vibe, guests can expect a revamped space under the hotel at 350 West Pender Street, including bold, avant-garde-inspired artwork, chic countertops and flooring, and comfortable booth seating.
