There’s an Ontario trail leading to a rock lookout with panoramic autumn views

There’s nothing like cottage country in the fall! Muskoka is packed full of gems to visit and explore, and this time of year, as the leaves change, there are a handful of spots you don’t want to skip out on, including Lions Lookout in Huntsville.

This stunning lookout oversees the Muskoka River, Fairy Lake, and a kaleidoscope of fall colours.

If you’re driving from Toronto, getting to the lookout will take you around two and a half hours.

Parking is available, with two small lots situated above and below the lookout structure.

According to Huntsville’s website, “A quick drive from downtown Huntsville and you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world as you gaze down at the town below.”

You’ll know you’re in the right spot when you see a four-pillar, red-roofed gazebo! The gazebo is where you can sit to take in the views, positioned on a natural rock and bordered on one side by an aged stone wall.

The lookout has been around for around 100 years, and while plenty has changed, the views are just breathtaking.

“In the mid-1900s, the Lions Club took responsibility for the upkeep of this structure, and from then on, this sightseeing location has been known as Lion’s Lookout,” shares Huntsville’s website.

Once you’re done exploring Lions Lookout, it’s just a short walk to downtown Huntsville, where you can enjoy a river view while you eat and drink at On The Docks Pub or down a craft beverage from Huntsville Brewhouse.
