Uh oh commuters and travellers alike! You should know that both the Lions Gate Bridge and the Stanley Park Causeway will face closures this week, starting on Friday night. And while you can still get across it, it won’t be nearly as convenient as driving over yourself. Here’s the scoop.
In a statement released today, BC Transportation gave the details. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, the vast majority of Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge will see closures for ‘counterflow upgrade’. In layman’s terms, those lights above the road that indicate which lanes you can drive in.

Friday will see a closure from 10PM to 8AM, while Saturday and Sunday will both close from 8PM to 5AM. Those really needing to get from Vancouver to the North Shore will be able to take public transit, and the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge will stay open as well. Still, you might wanna rethink a dinner across the pond this weekend. Sad.
With any luck, things will be back to normal by Monday. We’re crossing our fingers, that’s for sure!
