Christmas lights and festive fun in Edmonton, Alberta

An exciting event that is sure to brighten even the darkest day!

Edmonton’s Winter Whyte Light Up is back and “better than ever,” so you won’t want to miss a bell, a blink, or a bulb!

While Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for more snow this weekend, those in search of Christmas spirit are encouraged to head to Old Strathcona for a charming experience with installations, food, storytime, and extended hours at the farmers’ market—but that’s not all!

This year, you can even take frosty rides on the Edmonton Streetcar and are encouraged to enjoy the first-ever Winter Whyte Variety Show!

The best part? This will give you a break from the chill.

“Due to extra chilly weather in the forecast, we’re pivoting to a hybrid indoor/outdoor event,” they explain on their website.

“The Winter Whyte Variety Show must go on!… Indoors at the Fringe Theatre, from 4-8 PM.”

As always, there will also be the ceremony itself, when the trees of McIntyre Park will be lit up blue, red, green, and white.

If you’d like to check it out, dress warm, make sure you take a seat by the firepits, purchase your variety show tickets ahead of time, and enjoy!

According to their website, “It’s going to be a fantastic evening full of festive cheer and community spirit!”

If you’d like to attend, admission is free; however, if you’re able, you can make a donation to The Mustard Seed and Edmonton Food Bank.

‘Tis the season for giving!

Enjoy and happy strolling.
