It’s officially the holiday season and if you’re looking to spread and receive some joy, festive towns are a great place to start. Mainly because one Washington town is a step above the rest when it comes to celebrating the holidays. Let’s see why Leavenworth is considered one of the most festive towns in the nation.

If you’ve visited Leavenworth before, you probably know exactly what makes it so festive – its Bavarian charm. The town is home to highly stylized architecture, the relaxing Post Hotel, sleigh rides, and a beloved holiday light display.

With all of the great holiday amenities, it’s no wonder the town made House Beautiful’s top 10 list of the most festive Christmas towns in America.

The top 10 most festive Christmas towns in America are as follows:

  1. Kennebunkport, Maine
  2. Santa Fe, New Mexico
  3. Mystic, Connecticut
  4. Solvang, California
  5. Jackson, Wyoming
  6. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
  7. Bernville, Pennsylvania
  8. Clifton, Ohio
  9. Leavenworth, Washington
  10. New York, New York

House Beautiful gave our local town props for its “more than half a million lights” and “month-long festivities”  which include “a display of Santa costumes from all around the world, a gingerbread house competition, and a chance to win a Leavenworth-themed Christmas tree loaded with gifts.”

To be honest we’re a bit surprised that we came in ninth place as a different ranking last year ranked the town as the most festive town in the nation.

Regardless, if you haven’t already planned a trip to Leavenworth this winter, now is the time to do so. Happy holidays!
