This Ontario park has a rugged hiking trail leading to a gorgeous lookout over a lake

Picture this, a peaceful fall morning with stunning lake views and fall foliage. The air is brisk and you’ve wrapped yourself up in your favourite scarf as you embark on a fall hike. Where can you experience this, you may ask? Right at Lake St. Peter Provincial Park.

Located about three and a half hours northwest of Toronto and about three hours northeast of Ottawa are the gorgeous sights of Lake St. Peter Provincial Park. Here you can enjoy a peaceful fall camping trip.

There are 65 campsites available at the park. “They are spacious, comfortable, and sheltered by the mixed forest. Many of the sites will accommodate large trailers,” share Ontario Parks.

“There are several electrical sites and waterfront sites to choose from. All sites are close to drinking water taps and vault toilets. A centrally located comfort station has washrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.”

While you enjoy your stay, venture off onto one of the hiking trails for a scenic experience like no other.

Out of the three available hikes, the Lookout Trail is the one to explore. It’s about 2.5 km long and is considered a strenuous hike as the trail crosses rugged terrain, and passes close to a kettle lake.

At the end, you’re led to a fantastic lookout over the lake. Serenity!

Fees

According to Ontario Parks, the cost of a Day Use permit depends on the time of the year whether it be on or off-season, and by park. Entry fees for vehicles start at $12.25, but for park-specific fees, contact the park directly.
