Even if you don’t swim in it regularly, there’s no denying that Kitsilano Pool has become an absolute cornerstone of Vancouver. The seaside swimming haven offers incredible views, and just so happens to be the longest outdoor swimming pool in North America. So, this news is a little bit of a bummer.
Last night, the Vancouver Park Board gave an update on the situation. Basically, due to the damage sustained to the Seawall and the pool itself in January, it would remain closed for the foreseeable future, and maybe even the entire summer.

This is because not only did the staff have to wait to assess the damage, but that process is ongoing, and there’s no timeline set for how long repairs could take. Things are pretty silly right now, to say the least. Luckily, the Park Board will be extending the hours of the New Brighton and Second Beach pools to help relieve the extra demand.
But, we’d be lying if we said that it’ll replace the Kitsilano Pool. All we can do is wait, folks! And don’t worry, as soon as we hear an update about it we’ll fill you in as well.
