Chances are if you’ve spent a good amount of time at Kits beach during the warmer months, you’ve likely seen the solar-powered bike cart and powerhouse known as Kits Beach Coffee. You might have even ordered a cold brew fudgsicle to stay cool during last year’s heatwave!
The community-focused cafe has served fresh coffee and local eats to patrons of the beach for two years now, and they’ve just opened their first brick-and-mortar location on 1945 Cornwall Street. The best part? They’ve announced a bunch of new menu items, including new frozen treats (non-dairy options also available), organic teas, and new cold brews to keep you on your toes this summer.
Out with the puppers? They’ve got some pet-friendly Pawsicles too!
A special addition to their new space is their Equitable Literacy Library and Bathroom art installations created by co-owner Sarah Jamieson, who also happens to be the Director of Sustainability & Community Engagement.
The library was curated to connect the community with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ authors and encourage greater visible representation. Customers can utilize the space to sip on their coffee and reflect, all the while learning about topics ranging from colonial-settler history to the fight for climate justice in BC.
