This adorable BC town between two mountain ranges is surrounded by golden hillsides

In search of your next small-town destination? Fall is an especially magical time in the adorable town of Kimberley, British Columbia, which is covered in rolling hillsides of golden larches right now.

With endless trail networks and breathtaking mountaintops to behold, it’s no wonder that Kimberley was once voted the #1 small town in BC.

Largest municipal park in BC

Nestled between two mountain ranges, this southeastern slice of BC is home to the largest municipal park in the province, the Kimberley Nature Park.

Situated in the Purcell foothills, the incredible park is home to over 500 species of plants, fungi, and lichens, nearly 100 species of birds, 29 species of mammals, and 9 species of reptiles and amphibians.

The 840-hectare park and adjacent 200-hectare Horse Barn Valley Interpretive Forest together boast over 50 kilometres of old-growth-lined trails. Some journey through forested hillsides while others cross numerous small ponds and streams.

There’s also the 5-acre Cominco Gardens nearby, where over 45,000 flowers bloom annually.
