This Ontario town has a natural skateway that’s 3 times the size of NHL hockey rinks

Winter weather calls for exploration and lots of it! When it comes to Ontario towns, there’s lots to discover so if you’re itching for an adventure and a one-of-a-kind experience, head to Kemptville. This small community is home to a massive skateway that’s more than three times the size of NHL hockey rinks.

You’ll find Kemptville in the Municipality of North Grenville in Eastern Ontario, just a short drive away from Ottawa.

It’s actually the largest community in North Grenville, according to Community Explore Kemptville Ontario.

Though it’s fairly small, it does have a lot to offer – especially for winter fun.

According to the Municipality of North Grenville, there’s a natural skateway that’s located on Kemptville Creek and it’s massive.

The Kemptville Community Skateway is an outdoor rink that is the length of about three and a half NHL hockey rinks and it’s over twice as wide.

The rink begins at Curry Park and continues into downtown Kemptville. It is free to enjoy and it lights up after sunset.

There are also nearby porta-potties, picnic tables, parking, and more.

Another winter adventure is the Kemptville Winter Trail – a multi-use trail that is located off County Rd 43 and within the boundaries of the Ferguson Forest Center.

“The trailhead can be found at the Arboretum parking lot across from the dog park with a secondary access point near the FFC buildings and the Municipal centre, giving trail users a choice of where to start their trail journey,” shares the municipality site.

The Kemptville Winter Trail offers about 5.5 km of groomed free-use trails through the open areas of the FFC arboretum and the tree nursery roads. There’s also a section that leads to Ferguson Forest.

For nature lovers, this is a wonderful trip. And considering there’s more snow in the forecast, it’s a magical outdoor wonderland you need to experience.
