The province hasn’t seen much star power since Ghostbusters: Afterlife plugged in. Now, we’re in need of a recharge, and who better to give Alberta a few bars than the queen of the underworld, Kate Beckinsale?

This year, not one, but two TV series have actually been given the green light to shoot in and around the Calgary area, meaning more celeb sightings and more jobs for those working in the film industry!

Joe Pickett, a mystery-western based on the best selling books by C.J. Box, produced by Paramount Television and Guilty Party; which will premiere on CBS, have both been confirmed to start shooting in the first quarter of 2021.

As of right now, we’re not sure who will star in the novel adaptation, but Beckinsale will lead Funny or Die’s half-hour dark comedy as a discredited journalist, who dives deep into a domestic murder case in hopes of reviving her career.

According to the ACTRA website, Guilty Party will begin to shoot at the end of February and will run until May 28, so keep an eye out, folks! Things are about to get interesting around here again and thank goodness because we were dying for some action.
