This Muskoka resort is a must-visit in the fall & it’s home to Canada’s “most unique icebar”

For those who enjoy cozy season, there really is nothing like the colours of leaves changing in Ontario. And what better place to experience that than Ontario’s cottage country, particularly Muskoka. While generally known for its lakes in the summer, Muskoka has some of the best fall lookout spots in the province, and offers different ways to see it such as by boat or by air. Muskoka is also known for its cottages, but if you don’t happen to have one, the region is home to the JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa, a little home away from home.

Just a few hours from Toronto, with scenic fall drives to enjoy on the way, the resort is a year-round favourite due to its views of Lake Rosseau, access to the beach, and its amenities.

The JW Marriott in Muskoka is a full on resort, meaning you probably don’t have to leave the hotel for what you need. Whether you are with a friend, or family, the resort has on-site restaurants, a spa, and year-round indoor and outdoor pools.

The beautiful location makes this spot an ideal wedding destination, or simply a weekend getaway from the city life. In the fall, guests can drive to the home of Johnston Cranberry Marsh in Bala, a favourite in the region and a spot to watch and take part in the cranberry harvest. There is also the traditional sunset cruise on Lake Rosseau with Sunset Cruises or on Lake Muskoka with Muskoka Steamships.

On the resort itself, there is a hidden gem that is “Canada’s most unique icebar.”

“We are honoured to partner with Dan Aykroyd, founder of Crystal Head Vodka on the Crystal Head Icebar experience at the resort,” states the JW Marriott in Muskoka. “This one-of-a-kind Icebar is made up of 15,000 lbs of ice and is beautifully decorated with 231 Crystal Head Vodka bottles on the shelves. The highlight of the décor is the majestic chandelier made up of 36 bottles and lit up in striking hues of purple and gold.”

The Icebar experience is a cold one, but you’ll be bundled up for it.

Speaking of ice, later in the winter, the resort will reopen the Muskoka Ice Caves where guests can dine outdoors in private, cozy ice caves “with the scent of the charcoal grill.” The caves are transparent geodesic domes, and are overlooking Lake Rosseau.

If you plan to visit in October, you can catch a live music concert series featuring Randy Bachman & son Tal. They will be performing at the resort on October 21.

From an Icebar, to a spa, and live music, you really won’t want to leave the place. Well, maybe only to hit up a sunset cruise near by.
