While we are counting down the final days of summer, fall is generally still a great season for road trips and local travel. A favourite destination in Ontario in summer, and fall, is Muskoka. And if you don’t have a cottage, or a connection to one, there is a local resort just for you.

Just a few hours away from Toronto, the JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa is exactly what you would expect when it comes to a place in Ontario’s cottage country. From the scenic views of Lake Rosseau, to the easy beach access, this is a place to escape the city, while being close to home.

The JW Marriott in Muskoka is a full on resort, meaning you probably don’t have to leave the establishment for what you need. They have on-site restaurants, a spa, and year-round indoor and outdoor pools. While this is a venue that is so beautiful it is known as a wedding destination, it’s also just a great weekend getaway from Toronto. The resort also offers a variety of programming that highlights the local area, like jetskiing!

One gem that this Muskoka resort has is its ICEBAR. Co-founded by Dan Akroyd, yes THE Dan Akroyd, the Crystal Head Vodka ICEBAR experience welcomes visitors into its cold room, surrounded by ice. According to the JW Marriott, guests who visit will “experience flights of all three Crystal Head Vodka expressions: Original made from Canadian corn, Aurora from English wheat, and Onyx crafted from premium Blue Weber Agave directly sourced from one farm in Mexico.” Be sure to book early for this experience!

Since the resort is in Ontario, you’ll also be able to claim the temporary Ontario Staycation Tax Credit for 2022, which “aims to encourage Ontario families to explore the province, while helping the tourism and hospitality sectors recover from the financial impacts of the COVID‑19 pandemic.”

We know where we’ll be spending one of the last weekends of summer!
