Just in time for summer! These 8 Toronto beaches are certified clean

With summer around the corner, we’re in the mood to go to the beach. Lucky for us, here in Toronto we’ve got plenty of options. In fact, 8 of the city’s finest beaches just scored top marks when it comes to cleanliness. They are officially Blue Flag Canada certified, which means you can rest assured knowing these spots are in tip-top shape.

Before we unveil which beaches made the cut, let us tell you a little more about the Blue Flag Canada certification. This nifty recognition means a few things for the beaches that received it. It means they meet a certain standard when it comes to water quality and environmental friendliness. It also means you’ll find clean washrooms, trash disposal reciprocals, carefully monitored wildlife habitats, and more. Nature thrives at these awesome spots!

So which beaches made the cut? Here in Toronto, there were eight.

  1. Bluffer’s Park Beach
  2. Centre Island Beach
  3. Cherry Beach
  4. Gibraltar Point Beach
  5. Hanlan’s Point Beach
  6. Kew-Balmy Beach
  7. Ward’s Island Beach
  8. Woodbine Beach

In all of Canada, only 23 beaches and 10 marinas received the Blue Flag seal of approval this year. So the fact the 8 of those beaches were right here in the city is pretty darn impressive.

So there you have it! If you’re planning a day in the sun, be sure to hit one of these certified-clean spots. We know we’ll be stopping by this summer!
