There’s nothing like fresh air to put a skip back into your step and Big Valley, Alberta is wide open with some incredible attractions worth a trip this fall.
Located southeast of Red Deer, this delightful destination has restaurants, museums, ruins, and historic buildings.
“We are a dynamic little community located in Central Alberta,” they explain on their website.
“We’re proud of our history, people and community. There is always plenty to do and see in Big Valley, so have a look around.”
From the CNR railway station, built in 1912, to the bunkhouse used by the railroaders who maintained the track, this spot is practically frozen in time.
Other wildly cool things you’ll come across while in the area?
Jimmy Jock, a “western-flavoured” boardwalk with a fudge shop, a custom cowboy hat boutique, a tea room, a gallery, and the jailhouse.
Despite being built in 1914, this tiny lockup is in great shape thanks to years of rehabilitation and is a favourite among visitors.
