Seattle has a few notable local fast food chains, and when it comes to seafood, Ivar’s has to be the most iconic. Each year, they celebrate their founder’s birthday and this year, Ivar Haglund, would have been 119!
“Our flounder, Ivar Haglund, would have been a youthful 119 on Tuesday, March 19. He may not have wanted us to make a big deal about it, but we are anyway (like we always do),” reads the restaurant’s website.
So for one day only, on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, the restaurant is having a birthday special.

“On Tuesday, March 19, visit Ivar’s Seafood Bars, Fish Bars, Acres of Clams, Salmon House or Mukilteo Landing for Ivar’s Birthday Special: Buy one entrée from Ivar’s Birthday Menu and get a second for $1.19 from the same menu,” they say. “To get the deal, all you have to do is say, ‘Happy birthday, Ivar!'”
The entree has to be from the special Ivar’s Birthday Menu, and the special is limited to one per person.
Of note, they also say that “online ordering will be suspended for the day of March 19, 2024.”
