It’s going to be another hot Seattle weekend – here are cooling tips to keep in mind

If you thought the heat waves were over for the PNW brace yourself because temperatures are going to get up towards the 90s again this weekend. The NWS just issued another weather warning for temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to mid-90s Thursday onward. Luckily, it won’t be as hot as earlier this summer but there are still some things that you should keep in mind.

Namely that these temperatures aren’t really normal for Seattle. So even if you like the heat, your body probably isn’t super used to it if you’ve been living in the PNW for a while. That means you should try to keep cool and stay in an area with air conditioning if you can. You can also head to the beach, to a cooling center, or grab some ice cream.

Now as public lands in Eastern Washington are closing due to fire hazards and existing fires, we might see some smoke roll into the city as well. Keep in mind any smoke will probably stay up in the air and create more of a screen than anything.  But hey, that’s kind of the norm for August now isn’t it? It’s also important to keep in mind that generally, the whole state is at risk for fires so please don’t have outdoor fires.
