Italian coffee company with cafés in Florence to open its first North American location in Toronto

Attention, latte enthusiasts! Toronto is getting a new destination for artisanal Italian coffee. Italy’s original specialty coffee company, Ditta Artigianale, is bringing its Florence-based café to North America and Torontonians are the lucky ones who get to experience it first.

Ditta Artigianale was founded in 2013 by award-winning barista Francesco Sanapo and his business partner Patrick Hoffer, who were eager to “bring coffee of extreme quality” to Italy.

Ditta Artigianale’s COO, Alexander Zeleniuch, told Curiocity that the Toronto location will serve their signature roasted beans in a range of coffee beverages, along with pastries and a brunch menu from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

“In the evening, the bar will be open for craft cocktails that will feature the Peter in Florence gin also produced here in Tuscany,” said Zeleniuch.

This isn’t just any gin, either. It’s described as an “elegant mix of 14 botanicals, with particular emphasis on the Iris flower, symbol of the city of Florence since the 9th century, which has always been synonymous with elegance and purity, and juniper, a characteristic plant of the Florentine hills,” according to their website.

Ditta Artigianale will be opening up in the area of Richmond St W and Bathurst St, on the main floor of The Harlowe condo building, reports Retail Insider. The outlet says that more locations will open up in Canada and the U.S. in the future.

The company currently operates three stunning cafés in Florence, complete with cozy modern furniture and trendy decor. The Toronto location is set to open at the beginning of 2022.
