There’s an Ontario town with scenic beaches and a beautiful harbour

If you need a weekend getaway but don’t want to stray too far from the city, consider a trip to Innisfil. This small town is just an hour by car from Toronto and truly has it all, from sandy beaches to a stunning harbour with amazing restaurants and views.

Start your day in Innisfil at Innisfil Beach Park. Located on the shores of Lake Simcoe, this is the perfect place to relax with family or friends. The beach park has docks, pavilions, boat launches, five beachfront and swimming areas, and a snack bar so you can grab a bite after your day in the sun.

Have a furry friend you want to bring along? The area also has a dog beach. Located within Innisfil Beach Park, the dog beach is off-leash and open seven days a week.

A must-do while in Innisfil is stopping by the beautiful Friday Harbour, aka, one of my favourite places to visit for a day trip or weekend away from the city.

Right along the water, this year-round resort is an amazing option for an overnight stay, but if you’re just heading over for the day, there are a handful of restaurants and shops you need to check out.

Fishbone, Marine Room, Lake Club, Pier Bar, and Nest Clubhouse are some of the delicious restaurant options if you need help narrowing it down.

Friday Harbour also has kayak, standup paddleboard, and canoe rentals to take advantage of. Pricing starts at $25 for a two-hour rental of a paddleboard or kayak and costs $35 for a canoe or double kayak.

Two-hour bike rentals are also available starting at $25 ($15 for children).

Innisfil is one of those gems you’ll regret not visiting while the weather is warm, but don’t take my word for it; go check it out for yourself this summer!
