Get into the holiday spirit on this free wildlife walking trail in Banff

Christmas spirit can be hard to find, especially when you’ve got a whole family to account for. Let this free, outdoor holiday event in Banff take the guesswork out of it for you.

Sponsored by Banff and Lake Louise tourism, In Search of Christmas Spirit is a live Christmas story, told by the wildlife of Banff National Park.

Large-scale, illuminated animal figures with lighting, sound, and other special effects will take over the Cascades of Time Gardens from Thursday to Sunday, Nov. 13 to Dec. 14 and daily from Dec. 14 to 31.

You can expect enchanting creatures and holiday cheer at this 45-minute trail walk that’ll lead you through forests and mountain views of this globally renowned national park.

It’s a complimentary outdoor experience that’s ticketed to make it even easier to plan a wholesome, family-friendly event that’ll get everyone in the spirit of the holidays.

What to expect

You’ll be led through this immersive holiday-themed experience by Owl, a friendly and helpful guide on a mission to bring Christmas magic to all.

The immersive story will also include tales told by wolves, bears, buffalo, moose and more wildlife who are all seeking out the spirit of Christmas.

It’s a reminder of the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the park and the creatures who make their home there.

Plus, with an accessible and magical walking trail, the experience is bound to be true Canadiana.

The trail takes about 45 minutes to complete, and the event is ticketed to enhance the comfort and enjoyment of guests.

It’s a special event that sells out each year — so be sure to reserve your seat fast!
