Film festival season isn’t over yet in Toronto. The imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival is now running at venues around the city, showcasing Indigenous-made media from across the country and the world.
This festival is known as the world’s largest Indigenous festival showcasing film, video, audio, and digital + interactive media made by Indigenous screen-content creators.
“Over the past two decades, imagineNATIVE has played a crucial role in promoting Indigenous-made media by developing platforms for artists to assert their voice, express their perspectives and share their cultures,” the description says.
This is a ticketed event, but you can actually score free tickets to all imagineNATIVE programming this Friday, October 21st as part of TD Free Friday.

Through original on-screen works, this festival amplifies Indigenous voices and gives the public a better understanding of Indigenous peoples and cultures.
This year’s festival will feature over 100 short films curated into 13 programs and 17 feature films.
All of the screenings will take place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, and Artscape Sandbox.
As part of the event, you can also check out an Indigenous-made immersive showcase of VR and video games, as well as special events, panels, workshops, and networking opportunities.
