IKEA’s first ‘Design Studio’ in Canada just opened near Toronto & here’s what it’s all about

If you’re ready to elevate your space but have no clue how to do it, IKEA has your back. The company’s first-ever Design Studio in Canada just opened up in Oshawa and you don’t have to step foot inside an IKEA store to make your dream home come to life. Here’s how it works.

First, you’ll make an appointment with one of the Design Studio’s expert planners and then sit down with them to work on your next home project. Whether you’re redesigning your kitchen or want to maximize the space in your small apartment, the planners will not only design and quote everything for you, but they’ll order it too, so you can pick it up or have it delivered.

You’ll also have the option to use a self-service planning station in the studio space, where you can browse and get some inspiration. The Design Studio doesn’t have any products in stock for purchase, but there will be some sample items on display.

IKEA says that the studio is a short-term concept and will only stay open for 12 to 18 months. But, if this location is too far out of your way, IKEA plans to open several more in the GTA, with more details to come in the next few months.

This isn’t the only new project IKEA is launching in the Toronto area. The company is gearing up to open its first smaller-format downtown store in the country just down the street from Dundas Square. It’ll have over 2,000 products and some of its iconic food items for sale. The store is set to open late this year or in early 2022.
