Close the windows, unpack your goose down and maybe consider stocking up on the essentials because, those cozier winter temperatures that we’ve all gotten so used to? Well, they might not last much longer. Buckle into your snowsuits, friends, because in true Canadian fashion, a polar vortex could be coming, and with it – ice, snow and gloomy grey skies.

Luckily, we will have a little time before the cold front blows its way through the north. No, it’s not a lot of time, but it’s enough to prepare.

According to CTV News, the vortex, which is essentially just really cold Arctic air that extends farther into the south than usual, won’t actually hit until next week.

First, it will be felt in the more eastern provinces, like Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec, then will freeze over the western provinces. Thermostats will clock in well below freezing during the day and overnight, could drop anywhere between -20 C and -30 C.

Now, we’re not going to lie to you guys, the polar vortex will suck, but we’ll get through it. We’re encouraged to stay inside anyway, so it could be a piece of cake. Heck, you might not even notice! Good luck, stay warm, and stay safe. Springtime, sun, and green grass are just around the corner.
