This animal-friendly Halloween celebration is bringing pet psychics and dog races to Edmonton

Howl-O-Ween is an annual event hosted by the Edmonton Humane Society, and it’s back this month for another year of animal-friendly fun, including pet psychics, sniff-and-find mazes, and so much more.
This Halloween-themed event, run by the Edmonton Humane Society, is for both pets and pet owners. It offers a variety of treats and activities for everyone to enjoy, from food trucks to costume contests. For one day only this October, head down to the centre for a day of fun, spooky festivities that will guarantee a good time for the whole family (pets included).
What to expect at Howl-O-Ween
On Sunday, Oct. 25, the Edmonton Humane Society will be packed with Halloween fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guests will also have the chance to get exclusive seasonal EHS merch and Boo Baskets, a new goodie-box addition for this year’s event.
According to the Edmonton Humane Society, the activities lined up for Howl-O-Ween include:
- Pet psychics
- A costume contest for people and pets
- A ninja warrior course
- A sniff and find maze
- A dog agility course
- Face painting and airbrush tattoos
- A photobooth
- Inflatables
- Adopt-A-Stuffie
Alberta Dachshund Rescue will be there to host one of Howl-O-Ween’s most beloved events: the Howl-O-Weenie Races. In this activity, dachshunds will race against each other, cheered on by adoring fans.
If your dachshund wants to race, advance registration is available online until noon on Oct. 22. You can also sign up you and your dog at the event.
For those who stir up an appetite, don’t worry. Several food trucks will be on site during the event, including Canadian Mapleshack, Flipside BBQ, and Ukrainian House Food, and they’ve definitely got you and your family covered.
Do I need tickets to attend?
This whole event is free to attend, and no tickets are needed to get involved in the festivities.
For those heading on down to the Society this weekend, their website asks guests to consider bringing an item (like pet toys and non-perishable pet-related items) to help the organization “Stuff-A-Van” for animals in their care. Further details on what supplies they can and can’t accept can be found on their Gift in Kind Item Wish List online.
If you’re looking to have some Halloween fun alongside your furry friend, look no further. Howl-O-Ween is going to be a fantastic weekend celebration for everyone involved.
