It’s showtime: Canada’s Got Talent is accepting applicants & you can win $1 million

If you love watching talent shows, you’ve no doubt heard of Canada’s Got Talent, AKA the largest talent competition show in the world. Hosted by Canadian pop icon Lindsay Ell, the show brings hundreds of the top musical acts, dance routines, and talents together on the biggest stage in the country.

Famed talent-scouting pros Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus and Kardinal Offishall judge the contestants, who all compete for the chance to win the coveted top spot. This year, Canada’s Got Talent and Rogers are awarding the winner with the largest cash prize in Canadian TV history at $1 million! So there’s never been a better time to be on the show and put yourself out there.

As well, CIBC is giving each of the six “golden buzzer” contestants $25,000. So wowing those judges will certainly pay off!

Applications are now open for solo acts and groups, as well as nominations.

How to apply

Those interested in applying can navigate to CityTV’s website and select their preferred category. Note that the online application only takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete, but you have to do it in one go – so it’s best to carve out some time before applying!

Aside from personal and contact info, applicants will be prompted to describe their acts/routines, including an outline of any props or gear they’d need from the show. As well, they’ll need to upload a brief five-minute-and-under video of the act they’d like to perform onstage.

So there you have it, Canada! If you’ve got a hidden talent or skill you want to share with the world (or want to give someone you know a little push) – now’s your chance.
