There’s no place in North America quite like the Hotel de Glace in Quebec, Canada — a dazzling destination made entirely of ice and snow.
Featuring “fascinating art and winter splendour,” this meticulously carved masterpiece is only open in the winter months, but the time has nearly come.
Soon, the area will completely transform from a sunny season must-visit to a winter wonderland even St. Nick would write home about.
Located 25 kilometres from the centre of Quebec City, Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier was once two separate communities, Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier and St. Gabriel West.
In 1985, they were amalgamated and the charming municipality would go on to host several incredible attractions.
Described as having a “family spirit,” those who visit Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier can go rafting on the Jacques-Cartier River in the summer, make a splash at the Bora Parc Valcartier indoor waterpark, and wind down at the Aroma Spa—but that’s not all.
In addition to adorable boutiques and nearby restaurants, there is also the Hotel de Glace, which is slated to reopen on January 4, 2025.
A truly magical experience, the Hotel de Glace, is a luxe hotel that features 30 rooms and a new theme every year.
Here, you can enjoy a cocktail, or stay the night in a frosty suite decorated with majestic sculptures and colourful lights.
According to their website, you can even get married in their chapel, “where people from all over the world come to get married in magical ambiance.”
Want to check it out by checking in?
Prepare yourself, because this is no Holiday Inn!
With room temperatures between 3°C and 5°C, guests are encouraged to stay bundled in fleece, wool and multiple layers throughout the duration of their trip.
While they do have firepits and other cozy nooks, this place needs to stay chilly in order to hold its shape, and it’s totally worth it if you’ve got the money. Rooms start at $339 and can be booked now, but you’ll want to hurry!
Despite its price, people come from all over the world to stay here, and it won’t be long until it’s melted away.
This is one ‘cool’ experience, Canada! Don’t miss your chance to visit in 2025.
Where: 2280 Valcartier Boulevard Valcartier, QC
When: Jan 4, 2025
Cost: $399+
