How are you feeling about Vancouver these days? Pretty good? If so, you’re not the only one feeling that way. Vancouver has been rated one of the World’s Best Cities by Resonance Consultancy.

You’re probably agreeing or scratching your head thinking about our city’s long list of pain points. Either way, Resonance Consultancy looked at all of Vancouver’s angles, making this choice not as black and white as you might think.

Our ranking on the world’s best cities report was decided through place, people, programming, product, prosperity, and promotion. We wouln’t blame ya if you were extra confused now, so we’ll break it down for you.

Place:

This is Vancouver’s physical sense of space. That has a whole host of factors including weather, safety, neighbourhoods & landmarks and the outdoors.

People:

That’s us! This ranking also includes diversity and educational attainment.

Programming:

This is basically our lifestyle and fun section. Think culture, nightlife, dining, and shopping, aka all the good stuff.

Product:

This is the hardware of our city and how it functions. Think airport connectivity, attractions, museums, university ranking, and convention centers.

Prosperity:

This category is the economic health of the city. This also technically includes Global 500 and GDP per capita.

Promotion:

Our city’s ability to tell its story, which is all the Vancouver social media posts you see. This includes Facebook check-ins, Google searches, TripAdvisor reviews, Instagram hashtags, and Google trends.

Phew, that was a lot of reading, thanks for hanging in there. We won’t spoil the whole report for you but Vancouver ranked #41. Clearly, we have some work to do to break into the very top ranks. To check out the rest of the cities that made the list, click this link.
