This Alberta ranch offers year-round horseback rides through a mountain meadow & trees

Button up your Wrangler jeans and hold tight, because at the Homeplace Ranch in Alberta, you’re in for the ride of your life.

Located less than an hour west of Calgary, this stunning destination is described as being nestled on 600 acres of “pristine” wilderness and has offered wild experiences, like its scenic horseback rides, for 50 years.

“Owned and operated by passionate horseman Mac MaKenny since 1974, Homeplace Ranch is committed to giving you a real Western experience unlike any you will find elsewhere,” they explain on their website.

“Break away from the bustle and pressures of everyday life by immersing yourself in the experience.”

From trail tips to bonding with your horse, not only will you get to see some incredible things along the way, but you’ll also learn a ton about their resident animals—and that’s pretty cool.

Want to giddy up?

Before you pack your bags, you’ll need to plan ahead!

Riding lessons, horse awareness classes, and rides are offered year-round but require an appointment.

If you’d like to see the Rockies and ride a horse, but are only visiting the area for a short time, the half-day trail ride is truly something else.

This two-hour experience will start with a lesson on mounting, dismounting, leading, and giving your horse cues for a smooth ride, then will take you through the rolling Alberta foothills.

In the warmer months, guests will see the sprawling meadow come to life with wildflowers and wildlife, and in the fall, you’ll be surrounded by golden trees.

In the winter, bundle up and see the Canadian Rockies in their snow-covered glory—no matter your experience level!

Rides are offered at 10 am and 2 pm but will depend on the weather.

For more information or to book your ride, head to their website and enjoy.
