There is a rare house with its own postal code in one of Ontario’s prettiest towns

Did you know a house can have its own postal code? I didn’t either and apparently it’s quite rare! While there aren’t many of them, one of Canada’s “prettiest towns” aka Paris, Ontario, has a residence that does and it’s pretty fascinating.

Where is the house located?

The residence is located at 1 Banfield Street in Paris, Ontario.

The town is known as being one of the prettiest in the country, and now has another claim to fame – the house with its own postal code!

Curiocity spoke with one of the real estate agents that have worked with the home and got some interesting details on it.

When asked if a home with its own postal code is common, Paul Maranger, a realtor with Paul & Christian Associates, told us that it certainly isn’t.

“It is very common for an office tower or a condominium high-rise tower,” Maranager shared. “Unheard of for a single-family residence.”

Maranager was sure to mention what makes the residence so special, too.

“I have been to the 1 Banfield residence for social occasions and fundraisers over the past 20 years and every time it is absolutely magical.”

“Thousands of tulip bulbs blanket the gardens in the spring. At Christmas, the tree lighting ceremony illuminates thousands of lights,” he continued.

It’s no wonder the home has its own postal code as Maranger shares it sometimes feels like the spot is actually a hotel.

The pool, with its Indiana limestone wall and dramatic linear fountain are probably the most recent contemporary add-ons. It’s like a hotel, except you are the only guests.”

The house was built back in 1854, and today spans 5,800 square feet across two levels with an additional 1389 square feet in the attic and another 1716 square feet on the lower level.

18 chandeliers come with the residence as well as a beautiful saltwater pool and nearly an acre of land.

The five-bedroom six-washroom home can be all yours for 4.25 million dollars, a small price to pay to brag that you have your own postal code.

If you’re planning a day trip to Paris, Ontario anytime soon be sure to drive by!
