This spa resort just outside of Toronto is in the heart of Ontario’s scenic countryside

You don’t have to go far to exchange the concrete jungle for gorgeous views, a massive spa, and scenic ski slopes. Hockley Valley Resort is just 45 minutes outside of Toronto in Mono, Ontario, close in distance but will have you feeling like you’ve escaped to somewhere much further.

This premier resort boasts 15 runs for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, with the spa spanning a massive 8,000 square feet. I think a weekend trip is in the near future.

Let’s start with the thrill on the hills. Hockley Valley’s ski slopes are open Mondays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lift tickets can be booked for dusk to dawn, daytime, afternoon or night skiing. Night skiing ($48 per lift ticket) runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., a unique way to avoid the crowds during the day and ski under the lights.

You don’t need to book a stay to use them, but if it were me, I would certainly make a weekend out of this spot! Rooms start at $296 per night and have the option to add on accommodations such as a bed and breakfast experience where breakfast is delivered right to your room, or the culinary escape experience which includes “your overnight accommodation, a lovely three-course dinner in our signature restaurant, and a breakfast for each occupant.”

Speaking of food, there are two restaurants you can dine at while visiting. The restaurant’s “signature” restaurant is called cabin, featuring dishes such as beef short rib croquette, hand-made pastas, pan-roasted beef tenderloin, pan-seared fillet and seafood risotto.

Your other option is Babbo. This menu includes steak frites, the Babbo burger, chorizo mussels, and a chicken bruschetta sandwich.

Don’t want to face the elements of winter? The resort has indoor pools, a hot tub and a sauna, open daily from 7 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

The spa is a must, too. The giant space has a long list of options when it comes to relaxation. Some of the treatments you can indulge yourself in are eight different types of facials, warm stone massages, deep tissue massages, dry brush treatments, manicures, pedicures, and a full body scrub (just to name a few).

Body treatments start at $150, with facials starting at $170. As for nails, prices start at $20.

Hockley Valley is family-friendly so whether you need an escape from the kids or with the kids, a great trip away is ahead.
