Given how short our beach season is here in Ontario, it’s no surprise that our sandy shorelines are full of sunbathers all summer long. But, lucky for us, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to hidden beaches in Ontario, where you can enjoy the pristine white sand and calm water without the Wasaga and Woodbine crowds.
Here are 6 of the prettiest, lesser-known beaches around Ontario to inspire your weekend plans this summer.

You’ll find this natural secluded beach in southwestern Ontario. It’s located along the Lake Huron shoreline in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, between Kincardine and Goderich, which are two charming towns that are totally worth stopping in while you’re there.
Where: Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Ontario
Although this is one of the more popular public beaches in the Bracebridge region, you won’t be contending with Toronto-sized crowds here. The beach is located on Lake Muskoka with plenty of sandy shoreline for everyone to enjoy, as well as grassy picnic areas. The water is nice and shallow, making it ideal for kids and beginner swimmers.
Where: Bracebridge, Ontario
This is one of the quieter beaches in the Georgina area of Lake Simcoe, but it’s equally as beautiful. You can lay out on the pristine white sand with views of boats floating on the calm blue water. The nearby town of Jackson’s Point has a few charming restaurants and an ice cream parlour, and De La Salle Park has beach volleyball courts.

Touted as one of the most attractive beaches in the region, Colchester Beach is a popular place to visit in the summer for its beautifully groomed sand, clear and serene water for swimming, beach volleyball courts, picnic areas, and more. The nearby harbour also has plenty of amenities like an on-site concession stand and boater’s facilities.

This 1.6-acre park in Tiny, Ontario has a gorgeous white-sand beach, shaded picnic areas, washrooms, and parking, however, a parking permit is required. This beach is just up the road from the popular Wasaga Beach and is one of several in the area, including Edmore Beach, Allenwood Beach, and Bluewater Beach.

This magnificent 80-hectare park in Stoney Creek has “one of the warmest and cleanest beaches on western Lake Ontario,” according to Conservation Hamilton. The beach does tend to get busy on summer weekends, but there are plenty of secluded areas and a promenade to enjoy the scenery.
