This Toronto Asian market is hosting a Lunar New Year celebration with workshops & performances

Lunar New Year is around the corner and it’s time to start planning how you’re going to celebrate! Lunar New Year is a celebration that goes on for several days, marking the beginning of the new year based on the lunar calendar.

2024 is The Year of the Dragon and to kick off the fun early Hey Fun Market is holding a Lunar New Year Market showcasing the rich diversity of Asian-owned businesses!

Hey Fun Lunar New Year Market takes place in North York and will feature over 20 vendors with Lunar New Year inspired art booths, candles, jewellery, snacks and more!

Other activities guests can expect in their ticket cost include a lion dance performance by Wushu, a book signing by the Author of Twelve in A Race, Catherine Little, complimentary live Chinese calligraphy blessings to take home and an exclusive Hey Fun! Market bag. Fun workshops are also available to participate in at an additional cost.

While you’re walking around check out the yummy food and drinks and of course, the mini exhibitions that will be showcasing the origins and evolution of this celebration throughout different Asian countries.

These exhibitions provide an inside look into the Lunar New Year’s historical significance such as the zodiac cycle, the symbolism behind various traditional foods, and the customs associated with the holiday!

There are multiple sessions you can choose from when purchasing tickets such as the VIP Hour which gets you access to the full market (not just the hour) and a custom Hey Fun swag bag full of goodies.

Session 1 tickets are for 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Session 2 tickets are for 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM. All ticket options can be purchased here.
