We’ve shared tons of spooky events and activities for those of you that love a good dose of fright, but we felt something lighter but season appropriate was missing…until we got winds that Ghouls’ Night Out was returning this month. Not that any Calgarian would need an intro to either Heritage Park or Ghouls’ Night Out, but just in case you do- Ghouls’ Night Out is the annual Halloween event at Heritage Park, one of the country’s largest living history museums.

And if you prefer your Halloween adventure to be fun and entertaining or if you have little ghouls to take trick-or-treating, this is THE event for you. It’s outdoors, it’s safe (extra COVID safety measures are in place here) and it’s a great way to celebrate Halloween with the whole fam.

This year, the event is going to be a visual delight. You can walk down the dark and decorated street of the Historic Village, enjoy the performances by popular characters, shake a leg or two at the outdoor dance party, treat your eyes to the Festive Dia de Los Muertos display and go trick-or-treating with the lil’ ones at one of the six Halloween-y village homes. There are also take-home craft kits for some extended fun.

And as always, the feast is just as mighty as it should be with plenty of choices. You can grab a bite at the popular Railway Cafe or Selkirk restaurant before heading into the village, or at one of the food venues inside the park.

Oh, and did we mention the Sunday Matinee? While the delightful events will start at 5:30 pm on other evenings, on Sunday, they run 1:30-4:30 pm, meaning more time at night to go knock on every single door in your neighbourhood!

The only drawback, we’d say, is that the tickets get sold out all too soon. So, don’t waste another second and grab yours RN. The tickets (candies included) are available online on the Heritage Park website. All ticket purchases will go toward funding this piece of our history as Heritage Park is a charity and relies on your donations
