Oh hello, tequila lovers! We’ve got some news for you.

First, let us give you a prelude to this great news− You know how for the past year-and-a-half we’ve been missing a little zhoosh in life, particularly in the cocktails department? Be it for the lack of knowledge of mixology or the lack of willingness to gather/measure/mix a hundred different ingredients, we’ve walked out of our sheltered-at-home life with a newfound reverence for all drinks fancy.

Now the good news- we decided to wade off our tequila blues with a fun-filled tequila adventure around town. To do that, we got together with one of the finest tequila makers in the industry, Patrón. Of course, we trust them, they are, after all, pioneers of bringing premium quality tequila outside of Mexico.

After a long search, we rounded up a list of the 6 best tequila cocktails you can find in Edmonton and also the places where you can find them. Check out the list below!

If there’s one thing this taco and tequila bar can not go wrong with, it is an inventive tequila cocktail. And you’ll find plenty of those here. Our favourite is their guava-infused version of the classic Margarita. It’s definitely worth trying.

Frenesi at Clementine

An extensive wine selection, a spectacularly stocked bar, inspiring cocktails, small plates menu, lush ambience, there are countless reasons to fall in love with Clementine. Of all those reasons, our favourite one is their Frenesi cocktail. Crafted with Patrón Reposado tequila, this tequila-wine-acid blend is a grapefruit lover’s paradise.

XO Martini at El Cortez

Chocolate, coffee and egg whites- if we didn’t fear judgement, we’d say, ‘breakfast is served.’ Known for its Mexican authenticity and tequila bar, El Cortez take the cake when it comes to this blissful morning martini crafted with Patrón XO, double espresso vodka, creme de cacao and egg whites. Oh, the aromas!

Ancho Tejuino at Rostizado

Rostizado is a go-to place for all things Mexican for many, us included. And their Ancho Tejuino is one of the best tequila concoctions in town, especially if a high-flavour drink is your thing. Made with Patrón Reposado, Ancho Reyes, fresh lemon, muddled pineapple, and Mexican cinnamon infused Agave Syrup- this one truly tastes as delicious as it sounds.

Baijiu Barbie at Baijiu

At first, it might seem like a ‘no cream-all alcohol’ version of pina colada but when you sip it, you’ll get a funky surprise. This pineapple flavoured, coconut tequila cocktail is blended with the popular Chinese liquor, baijiu which gives it a distinct, earthy and makes the drink a Baijiu special.

Petra at Woodwork

There’s actually a lot to love about this 100 Street gem- the wood-fire grilled food, their humongous spirit collection and their award-winning cocktails. In fact, we have more than one favourite when it comes to Woodwork’s cocktails. However, since this is a tequila special, we’re going to stick to Petra. This refreshing mix is a close cousin of Paloma distinguished from the latter by the tangy sumac spice.

As tequila loyals, you will be pretty pumped to take your at-home bartending skills to the next level after trying all these fab cocktails. Having a bottle (or 3) of Patrón– sweet or smooth, based on your preference- stocked up will prove to be a life-saver.
