Here’s how you can help the residents of Lytton right now

You might remember but just a few days ago, a tiny town in BC broke Canada’s all-time heat record. Not once but three days in a row. And this proved to be extremely devastating as the majority of the town has now burnt to the ground after a wildfire started in the area. With Canada Day just yesterday now is the time to help the residents of Lytton, here’s how.

As residents had to evacuate with extremely minimal notice, most residents lost everything. That means, home, clothes, food, pets, and even family members. While money can only go so far as to replace what has been lost, that is one of the easiest ways to help at the moment.

Currently, you can donate to the Savage Society, Lytton First Nation Community Emergency Support, and the Lytton Relief Fund. Alternatively, if you can’t afford to donate at the moment you can always share this article or links with those who can. Because Lytton will need as much help as it can get.

This tragedy is a reminder of how serious the hot temperatures that we are seeing can be. It’s also a reminder to be vigilant this summer about preventing wildfires. They devastate not only human lives but the province’s wildlife and forests. We are keeping Lytton in our thoughts and hope that residents can get the support they need.
