Here is how Toronto is celebrating Asian Heritage Month

The month of May marks a very important occasion in Toronto and across the country. It’s Asian Heritage Month. A time for celebrating and honouring the Asian population of this city and beyond. In recognition of the month, the city is celebrating in a number of ways.

Here are 5 of the ways Toronto is celebrating Asian Heritage Month this May.

THE TORONTO SIGN

To kick things off, the famous Toronto sign was lit up in red in honour of the month. This city landmark often reflects the current events and cultural focus of any given time. With its prime location in the heart of downtown, near city hall and in Nathan Phillips Square, this landmark is sure to be viewed by millions.

TORONTO PUBLIC LIBRARY EVENTS

All month long, you can log on to the Toronto Public Library website to attend virtual events and celebrations in honour of Asian Heritage Month. There will be live and on-demand talks, festivals, and celebrations all month long.

Canadian leader in music, podcasts, sports, and laughs is bringing Asian Heritage Month to you through the platforms many celebrations. ASIAN HERITAGE FOUNDATION

This month you can catch a multitude of Asian Heritage events through the Asian Heritage Foundation. Although the platform is Calgary-based, they’re hosting events across the country. Log on for access to everything from film screenings, to dance classes, to educational events and more.

VIRTUAL ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH FESTIVAL

Last but not least, we’ve got the Virtual Asian Heritage Month Festival. Presented by The Canadian Foundation of Asian Culture, this month-long event has tons in store. They kicked off with opening ceremonies this past weekend and will continue the celebration with art exhibitions, concerts, and more.
