A rose by any other name would smell as sweet – but admittedly we spent days googling, thinking, and then second-guessing ourselves before settling on a name for our newly adopted pup. Naming your little floof is a serious business, not only because it’s something that will stay with them for their entire lives, but also because a pet name says a lot about you as the owner. This is why when Bark Box, the folks behind the incredible pet-subscription box, released their 2020 list of 100 Most Popular Dog Names, we didn’t hesitate to check it out.

From Scruffy to Fido, people have coincidentally gravitated to certain names for certain breeds. Think about it, how many freaking beagles are named Bailey? Considering that came in at #7 on the list, we think it’s safe to say that it’s a lot of them – but what else made the list?

Well, there you have it. How many of those actually surprised you and is your dog’s tag on this list?! To be honest, we’d actually be more curious to see a list like this for pet nicknames – because wow, have we got a few of those for our hungry House Hippo. Honestly, from Little Ham to Creature, he’s kind of heard it all… poor little fella might not actually know his real name. That’s quite a thought…
