Toronto foodies just don’t quit. Even in these difficult days, we’re still all about trying the newest and hottest spots the city’s got to offer. What? We’re just doing our part for the community and supporting local business. If that means takeout from a new restaurant in Toronto every day, so be it! These delicious joints may be new to the city, but they pack a real punch. From burgers to desserts to desserts to drinks and more, these tasty spots are all places to try.

Of course, thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions we’ve only picked places with takeout or delivery options available. Be sure to double-check all safety guidelines before placing any orders.

Here are 8 delicious new restaurants to check out in Toronto.

PIGOT’S BURGER CLUB

First on our list is the famous Pigot’s Burger Club. If you haven’t tried this new joint yet, we don’t know what you’re doing. This new burger spot is the brainchild of the very popular Chef Mike Pigot of Calgary. You may know the name from his stint on the Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games. Whether you’re familiar already or not, you’ve got to get your hands on these insane menu items.

The main attractions are the single, double, or triple cheeseburgers. The awesome eats come complete with brown sugar onions, Pigot’s super-secret sauce, curated American cheddar cheese, and a custom ground beef patty served in a potato roll. Okay, clean up your drool now.

This new pop-up is so popular it’s selling out in minutes. No seriously, minutes. You’ll have to act fast if you want to get your hands on the tasty handheld pies this joint is serving. At least twice a month, they announce their drop date. Then the mad dash to order begins. The last two times this happened, The New Pie sold out entirely in under 2 minutes.

Needless to say, the flavours here are insane. Why else would it have all that hype? There are plenty to choose from, but our personal recommendations have got to include the cheesecake pie, banana foster, or the PB and Choc Treat. Yum!

BELLO PIZZA

You’ll definitely want to get a slice of this next joint. Not to be cheesy, but we’re obsessed. Think you’ve had enough of the pizza puns? Brace yourself, ’cause there’s more coming. Don’t be a weirdough and avoid this place, because crust us it’s one you won’t want to miss. Okay, we’ll chill on the puns now. But you get the picture.

A slice at Bello’s comes in all kinds of creative flavours. Their menu is loaded with delicious creations, including everything from your classics like cheese or pepperoni, to more creative options like Ciaoabunga (Cream, Mozz, Fior Di Latte, Pecorino, Basil, Vanilla Compressed Pineapple, Smoked Duck, Pickled Scotch Bonnets) or LPP (Lemon Cream, Garlic, Mozz, Fior Di Latte, Pecorino, Asiago, Prosciutto Di Parma, Poppy Seeds). Yeah, this spot is seriously insane.

MTL SMOKED

So we can’t travel to Montreal right now. That’s a bummer. But we can enjoy the taste of smoked and aged meats directly from the iconic French-Canadian city. This new pop-up spot is serving up just that! Their delicious offerings are imported from our Quebec neighbours and being sold out of FreePlay Toronto on College Street right now.

So what can you expect from the menu? This spot has everything from BOGO sandwiches to smoked and sliced meats to fresh rye bread. Yum!

After much anticipation, this insane new bottle shop is open for business! Head on out to Etobicoke to choose from a selection of brews, bottles, and more. This spot arrived in the city just in time for summer. It’s the perfect accompaniment to any outdoor day in the sun.

Some of our top picks available for takeout or delivery have got to be the Tropic Storm (a hazy, pale, sour ale, with tart and refreshing notes of zingy citrus and pineapple) or the Screwface IPA (a classic west coast IPA with an upfront hop hit, lots of bitter flavour, and notes of pine, grapefruit, and blackcurrant).

Where: 37 Advance Rd, Etobicoke

BORÉAL GÂTEAU

You know those viral videos of folks pouring an icy, colourful glaze over beautiful cakes? You can find the real-life version of that right here. This new GTA spot is technically still online pre-order only. But we’re so pumped about it we had to include it anyway.

You can browse a selection of gorgeous handmade desserts that are seriously delicious works of art. These beautiful creations are perfect for any special occasion. Or don’t wait for a holiday, treat yourself just because! They’ll be opened their in-person spot this summer in the GTA’s Unionville.

Where: Check it out online or at 205 Main St, Unionville this summer

CANAIMA CAFE

This next spot may be a small food stand, but it packs a serious flavour punch. Canaima Cafe just opened up their next quick-stop stand on Yonge Street and they’re already the talk of the town. You can stop by for deliciously authentic Venezuelan eats. They have loads of incredible stuff available, including vegetarian, vegan, and halal options.

There’s tons of deliciousness up for grabs on this menu, but if you’re looking for a recommendation we think you can’t go wrong with an order of their empanadas. Whether you opt for the veggie or meat variety, you’re in for a serious treat.

CHACU’S

Last but not least, we’ve got the newest and hottest spot to open their doors in Scarborough. Chacu’s is all about bringing authentic Pakistani Street Food to you. Plus, they’re open late, so you can enjoy a bite whatever hour that craving hits!

This delicious menu has loads to enjoy, but today we’re highlighting the Pulao (freshly marinated chicken tikka, or tandoori chicken over rice with garlic mayo, raita dressing, and a side of green peppers) and the Paratha Rolls (freshly marinated tandoori chicken, chicken tikka or peshawari chapli kebab, drenched in garlic mayo, and wrapped in pita). You can’t go wrong with these tasty flavours!
