It’s prime pumpkin-picking season, so we thought we’d share some of the most exciting, highly-anticipated patches of the year, all of which have plenty of U-pick options. So without further ado, here are 9 amazing pumpkin patches to check out in BC this fall.

Southlands Heritage Farm

We have to start this list with one of our favourite local spots, situated right here in the city: Southlands Heritage Farm. This adorable farm makes pumpkin picking easy and accessible, and they’ve got plenty of options when it comes to different varieties of U-Pick pumpkins to choose from.

When: Friday to Sunday from October 6th to October 29th
Where: 6767 Balaclava Street
Cost: $14.29

Taves Family Farm 

This family farm is a popular spot for all sorts of U-Pick options, and right now, it’s apple and pumpkin season. They’ve got plenty of special heirloom pumpkins, and even super-sized varieties which average 50 lbs each! New this year, though, is a life-sized Princess Carriage, perfect for a whimsical photo-op.

The U-pick area and farm is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm daily.

When: Open until October 31st
Where: 333 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford
Cost: Free admission on weekdays, $7 for admission on weekends

Richmond Country Farms Pumpkin Patch

Here’s another spot that’s still close to home. Richmond Country Farm takes picking pumpkins to the next level with live music and costumed characters. So if you want the full fall deal, be sure to check them out starting October 1st! Each ticket includes entry, a wagon ride, and 1 pumpkin. The farm is open from 9 am to 4 pm on weekdays, and from 10 am to 4:30 pm on weekends.

When: Opening Saturday, September 30th
Where: 12900 Steveston Highway, Richmond
Cost: $15 to $18 per person

Maan Farms

Open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Maan Farms has a slew of exciting events happening during their fall 2023 season. From a Forest Pumpkin Patch to its beloved corn maze and a climbable tire structure, there are plenty of fun activities to choose from. And in terms of eats, visitors can expect everything from pumpkin-spiced ice cream to pumpkin scones with spiced glaze.

When: September 16th to October 31st
Where: 790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford
Cost: $21 for fall at the farm, $16 for U-pick 

Aldor Acres Family Farm

We love this spot because they have 80 acres of farmland for you to experience. And this year, you can either walk through or drive-thru to select your perfect pumpkin. Either way, you’re guaranteed to snag some beautiful pumpkins. Enjoy a hayride around the farm, visit the farm animals, and indulge in BBQ on the weekends.

When: September 23rd to October 31st
Where: 24990 84th Avenue, Langley
Cost: $15 for GA, $65 for Family Day Pass

Chilliwack Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch at Greendale Acres

With a 25th-anniversary corn maze, a corn train, and over 15 varieties of pumpkins to choose from – it’s definitely worth it to check out Greendale Acres this time of year. They’re open every day starting October 1st, and admission is $16-$18 depending on whether you purchase tickets ahead of time online or at the door.

When: October 1st to 31st
Where: 41905 Yale Road West, Chilliwack
Cost: $16-$18

Laity Pumpkin Patch 

Laity Pumpkin Patch consists of two patches located across the street from each other in Maple Ridge, both of which are open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. most weekdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (5:30 at the South pumpkin patch) on weekends. Visitors can take their pick from a wide variety of pumpkins ranging in colour and size. Prices go from anywhere between $2.50 for small sugar pumpkins up to $12 for a large 40 lb pumpkin, with all prices in between.

The North Patch is designed for younger children, while adults are encouraged to roam the South Patch. Note that neither is pet-friendly.

When: October 1st to 31st

Cost: $10-$13 for admission, $2.50 to $12 per pumpkin

Port Kells Nurseries 

From ornamental pumpkins to carving pumpkins, to ones that make for the best pies – Port Kells in Surrey has them all. Visitors can choose from thousands of hand-grown pumpkins of all sizes and colours this season, and admission is free to the pumpkin patch!

When: October 1st to 31st
Where: 18730 88th Avenue, Surrey
Cost: Free admission

Willow View Farms

And finally, if you want a huge variety head to Willow View. Because they have over 50 varieties of pumpkins to choose from, including giant pumpkins. So if you want to go really big this year, do it here. The farm is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Note that this farm is not pet-friendly.
